BlizzCon 2010 Set for Anaheim Convention Center

It’s been announced that this year’s BlizzCon will be held in Anaheim California on Friday October 22nd and Saturday October 23rd 2010. BlizzCon is not only a gaming convention, it’s a gaming convention held by the company that makes one of the top selling game series ever, Call of Duty.

Also, Activision/Blizzard of course make other landmark titles like Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo universe games. These three massivly multiplayer games have killed millions of hours of peoples time and BlizzConn is a time for all the gaming geeks like me to get together and have a blast IRL.

Some things to look forward to at BlizzCon are:

Hand on demos with upcoming games
A forum with Blizzard Developers
Both cut throat and friendly tournaments to show your skills
contests and prizes
special commemorative gear
and more that Blizzard will announce in the months to come

New JAY-Z vs Eminem Mix Pack available now for DJ Hero

Today Activision announced that available now is a new mix pack including new tracks from JAY-Z and Eminem called the JAY-Z vs Eminem Mix Pack.

This downloadable content is a small add-on but it’s got some tracks you know and love we all know and love including:

“Shake That” by Eminem Mixed With “Show Me What You Got” by JAY-Z
“Without Me” by Eminem Mixed With “Encore” by JAY-Z
“Can I Get A…” by JAY-Z Mixed With “Lose Yourself” by Eminem

Green Day Rock Band will finally hit shelves

Announced on the Rock Band website by Harmonix, MTV Games, and Warner June 8 will bring a huge release of the Green Day version of Rock Band. This episode will have fourty seven, yes FOURTY SEVEN tracks of Green Day-ness. However there will be no new guitar kit.

Featuring the three-part vocal harmony technology Harmonix introduced with the award-winning The Beatles™: Rock Band™, Green Day: Rock Band gives players access to an incredible setlist of 47 tracks that span the band’s career including “Brain Stew,” “Jaded,” “Hitchin’ a Ride,” “American Idiot,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” All 47 tracks are fully exportable, providing players with the opportunity to play the songs in Rock Band™, Rock Band 2™ and the recently announced Rock Band™3! Green Day: Rock Band™ features an export fee of $9.99 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system. The export feature is not available for the Wii system. The Countdown to Metroid: Other M has Begun

After a long wait, Nintendo has officially dated the next highly-anticipated installment in its Metroid franchise, Metroid: Other M, for June 27, 2010. This newest episode in the adventures of one of gaming’s earliest female icons promises to delve into Samus Aran’s past as well as offer brand-new gameplay innovations to the Metroid series.

One of the features employed in Other M allows players to switch between 1st-person perspective as used in the recent Metroid Prime games, but also has the option of 3rd-person for a more traditional experience. Though this kind of view-switch has been implemented in other games, most recently Dragon Age: Origins, Metroid is a different kind of game from Bioware’s strategy/RPG. Nintendo is sure to put an interesting spin on the mechanic for an action game such as Metroid, and gamers should eagerly anticipate summer to find out more.

The Aliens vs Predator teasers continue

As Sega continues to milk the teasers for Aliens vs Predator more tips and screenshots are revealed. There is a post days long on Sega’s blog with more views from AVP and tips about strategies on the Predator’s role, stealth, energy, weapons, and predators abilities.

While Stealth keeps you hidden from view, it’s important to realize what tools your enemy has to counter this invisibility. Marines, for example, can track motion; so moving quickly, infrequently or by way of Focus Jump, is a good way to scare a Marine and get the drop on them. Aliens, on the other hand, can see you as a faint outline, but only from certain range. Use Alien Vision (more on that later) to get the drop on them before they get the drop on you.

The video game company SEGA announced this morning that it would turn it’s not so secret project “needlemouse” into Sonic the Hedgehog 4. The newly launched website only says that it’ll be released summer 2010 and that it will be released on PlayStation Network, XBox Live, WiiWare, and possibly a mystery console.

Sega launched the website today with the usual features:

twitter and facebook links,
coundown clocks,
a blog,
news (which there’s none of yet as of now),
newsletter subscription, and
forum

The main feature on the site right now is a trailer but it doesn’t not show any details of the game. Follow us here for more details as they’re unveiled.
